What good are healthcare insurance brokers?

I called one two weeks ago & he was going to email me different quotes. He never bothered to, and so I called him & asked where they were. He said he forgot. Meanwhile I called another health care insurance broker & she too sent me some quotes. I attempted on line to apply for one, but there was a problem with the form allowing me to go further. I not only called the broker like she said I could if there was a problem, but I also emailed her about the problem. She didn't return my phone call, and as of yet has answered my email. It seems to me they must not want to make a commission, so is it just best to contact the health insurance companies on their own? In the past a broker was able to tell me if I would qualify if there would be a mark up above standard rates. Now they say just apply on line and see what happens. Everything has to be on line which always obviously doesn't work. So, what good are health insurance brokers? They need to just do away with them if they aren't going to work.

My grandma purchased new york life insurance whenever I was young - once i turned 16 years old I took over and paid the amount. I am now 20 years old and the insurance policy agreement was only for 20 years. I am now not interested in keeping the new york life insurance. What happens if I do not agree to a new policy.. Where does my money go.. Can I get any of my money that I paid into it for 20 years?

My son was rear-ended today. Damage appears minimal, but there is damage. If he has the damages paid for by the insurance company of the man who ran into his car will that cause my son's insurance rates to increase? I am 18 years old and just got married. My husband(21) and I make minimum wage at our jobs. We do not know much about health insurance and we are looking for an affordable plan that covers the basics. We hope to have children eventually and would like to have a plan that covers maternity costs. Please, if you can offer any advice, the deadline for this year's insurance is February 15th. Thanks!
